    Hypertech programmer lll

I am wanting to buy this hypertech programmer lll #380752 off of a guy real cheap but he said that the unit was not returned back to stock. Does it do that? And if so...what are my options of reseting it or do I even need to. I have a 1998 Ls1 Trans am.

Hypertechs can only be used with one VIN. If it hasn't been set back to stock, it is 100% useless. Do not buy it.

+2 I have a Hypertech that came with our car -- I use it as a monitoring device only and have a Frost mail order tune on the PCM.

+1, you can't use it if he hasn't returned his car to stock. You can't even send it back to the company to reset it. If you plan on doing anything else to your car, save your cash and get a tune specific to your mods after you get the parts on your car.

Only with a towstrap or rollback. It will not run without the PCM. He does have a fast turnaround time.

Def dont get the hypertech! Without it being returned to stock it will only read error codes from your car thats it. Hypertech wont help u either since you were not the original owner. I know this because it happened to me. I bought one, used it, then it lost my stock tune some how and also wouldnt work with other cars. I called hypertech and they basically hung up on me and said sorry bout you bad luck...
