HpTuners tune locks out EFILive tuning?
Anyone know if there is a circumstance where a car tuned with HpTuners won't let another tuner use EFILive to retune the car? Or vice versa? A local tuner here says he can't tune this car in question (a GTO) because of this. He says the tune isn't locked and I'm hearing this all from a 3rd person.
If so, what the solution? He (and the shop) are asking me (and the 3rd person) to use GM service programming to put it back to stock so he can tune it or possibly borrowing my laptop with HPtuners so they can tune it.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I have heard that HPT can be locked. Maybe EFILive isn't compatible with HPT?

I was under the impression that you could go back and forth between the two without issues unless the tuner locked the tune.

I dunno the gist of things, but when I had mine tuned, it was discovered that my car had LS1Edit and my tuner had to upload the stock tune and upload the HPTuners to make the adjustments.

aaahh...I think I may have found a possible answer while searching. If this GTO has a different HpTuners operating system loaded into it, then its possible EFILive won't work with it.
For example, HPtuners offers 2 and 3 bar operating systems for boosted engines and I bet EFILive doesn't recognize it. I don't know enough about this GTO yet to say if that might be the case.

COS's are locked to other suites to protect the intellectual property of HPTuner's and the work they did on their custom OS's. ANY HPTuner's owner can readily read and write the PCM though.
