    HP3 Question please.

I'm going with a HP3 because of budget, plain & simple.
I thought I had done my home work & that 99-02 LS1 are the same part num 30028 for the 97-98, & 30025 for the 99-02.
Well I bought one for my 99 SS from a guy that used it on a 00 SS, & yes it was put back to stock. But iwhen I tried it after it reads my vin it say's this programmer is not for this car?????
Any one else know what's going on? Because I'm lost.
    Thx,
    Wayne

How old is it? Been a few years since I had one, bought one in early 01 for my car and thinking back then they were year specific? Sorry, can't remember my exact model number - when I sold it I gave the receipt to the buyer so they'd fix it for him later if he ever had any problems. Mine wouldn't read DTCs, unlike what hypertech says they do now. If it's a 30025 it should work? Someone will chime in...

Hi--Is it a power programmer lll ? or just a power programmer, the old style and not a 3 ? Make sure the headlights are off and all accessories -radio--htr.fan etc. and battery is charged if you still get the message -its probably NOT returned to stock the owner doesn't know or it was stolen---call hypertech and give them the serial # and they can tell you if it was reported stolen---ALSO---A handheld programmer is NOT the cheapest way to go---

I have a HPIII for my 98 - got it for less than $150 off of eBay, never used. I'd say thats a pretty good deal if you ask me

However, buying one brand new is expensive as hell. Whats the cheapest way to go, since you mention it?

I was thinking they were year specific at one time right? It's been a long time but I think that's right.

Djvaly,I see youre hpp3 will read and clear DTC's but will it also turn off sensors?I don't know alot about this, but am under the impression that any more mods I do,like headers,I'm gonna have to turn sensors off(like O2).Will this do it?

if u don't get the cats with the headers then u will have to delete the code for that. I am not 100% sure that it will do that, I would get the cats as well since they are high flow nowadays, 10-15 yrs ago yeah they were pretty restrictive, now they are flowing nicely. my 2 cents.

if u do gears, LT H and Y, cat back, tires size change, transmisison firmness, top speed adjustment per tires rating, max rev rpm limiter for M6.. those can help using a handheld programmer like HP3. if you have A4, if you can do all the above and shiftpoints moving which is a good thing.
