How do you reset the service engine soon light?

Just like it says. I had a code, found out what the problem was and hopefully fixed it. I want to reset it and see if it comes back or not. I went to auto zone and they said they cannot reset a code, just read them. Any idea's?

Look, if you have fixed the issue, you can try a few things before buying your own code reader and re setting it.
Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
If that doesn't work, after re set, drive it for about 60 miles.
If that doesn't work, find someone or buy a code reader.
I bought one on Ebay for about 90 bucks and it can read any car from 99 on up.
If you have fixed the issue, you can do an erase function and it should stay gone.
If it is not fixed, it will show you what is failing.

Both AutoZone and advance can clear codes. Some workers will not do so, but if you check around, someone will. Disconnecting the battery 10-15 minutes should do the trick though if the problem is fixed.

Thanks nowhereman and derek. I tried disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes and it didn't clear the code. It's not a big deal, my emissions check is not due for a while i just wanted to get rid of the annoying light. I'll probably end up getting a code reader or just go to a different auto parts store and ask them if they will do it. Thanks.

    Turn key to on position.
    Pull Batt and ECM fuse.
Turn car back off, replace fuses and then you can restart it.
It may need a little peddle to keep from stalling until idle speed is relearn, just a few minutes at most.
