    Handheld Tuner my only hope?

I am about to finish Long Tubes install w/no cats & 160' Thermostat on my car.
I know once I fire it up, I will be throwing '02 codes (no cats in rear) & will need my fan reprogrammed to 160' to work with the thermo.

I called around to some local dyno shops to see if any of them can have me come in just to shut off my codes for now.
Everyone of them are either import shops & say no or they try to sell me a handheld programmer...

Is a supertuner or equivelent handheld tuner seriously my only hope? Are they even worth buying?
Does anyone know of any dyno shops in Orange County or surrounding area that can help?
This really sucks as when my engine hits 500 miles, I will be looking for a high performance dyno tune as well...

Anyone have any suggestions or input?

Bah, each shop I call needs to see if they can service my car & call me back...
I was trying to find something pretty close to my house.

Let me ask, will a "Superchips" handheld be able to shut off ALL the codes that I will be throwing?
    - 02 sensors relocated, no rear cats (rear 02 delete), 160' thermo, etc.

um i dont have any experience with super chips, but if you wanna come to my house today in corona after like 5 i can put my diablo sport on it and see, i am 100% sure that it will delete the codes you need gone, and adjust for the fans etc, i like my diablo sport, if you dont wanna come test it out you can buy one and see how it works.

I would love to take you up on your offer, that is music to my ears.
The problem is, my car is still in the shop at the moment.
I was trying to plan it so I could get everything tuned out as soon as I get it back,
(should be within the next few days, early next week at the latest).

I live in South Orange County, near Disneyland, not sure how far you are from me.
I appreciate your offer to help & hope to take you up on it!

    I don't live in Texas & didn't really plan on buying/installing a new PCM...
(Not even sure how difficult that is)
Looks like a good site & positive option for sure & I thank you.

Chill pill dude, my response was quite nice.
Their products listing & tuner areas both refer to pcm flashes/new pcm's/wire harness kits/local tuning or a tune program they will set up & send you.
I am sure that would work great if I had a laptop, which is why I was thinking a handheld is my only hope.

lol what sarge was saying is you can buy a pcm from tsp, for instance you buy headers and cam and heads you tell them what trans you have and they send you a pretty good tune, they got that pretty much dialed in, all you do is send them your old pcm, as for the install it takes bout 5 seconds, just two 8mm bolts that hold the wires onto the pcm...

hey sarge hes 33 lol i dont think hes a kid, im a kid, lol i am only 21, but am doing pretty well,

Have never messed with the PCM before, so wasn't sure how difficult the process. (Mechanic does my dirty work).
I haven't seen many people do this, so the process is new to me.
If replacing the PCM with a tuned one will turn off all/any codes & tune my car at the same time, saving dyno time/costs,
seems like a win/win situation to me.

No kids....he mails you a PCM loaded with your custom tune. Future mods (up to a point) are free. this guy is the tuner for GM High Performance/STS Turbos and a few others....these are spot on tunes.....the web site spells it out down to the tune form to fill out....If them chill pills come in suppository form I suggest you go take one right now.

I'll set your state on fire.
Yeah your right I was being an asshole. I apologize. But Nelson is the way to go if you dont have a top notch tuner in your area for sure.

I called Nelson on my lunch break & don't know HOW I have never heard of them or this PCM procedure before!
Melissa @ Nelson was beyond helpful & answered every question I had.

This was exactly the answer I needed, Excellent advice Sarge.

I just get short tempered when folks buy them damn handheld bullshit things and they can have a real tune by a pro regardless of where they are at. So again I'm an asshole and have bitch slapped myself three times...I also told myself to knock that crap off or I would ban myself if it ever happened again.
Yeah you spoke with Mama Nelson. She is a really nice person.........
