    Smile Hand held tuners

Good morning everyone. My 02 Formula is stock except a lid and FRA mod. Whats the opinion on hand held tuners? I was looking at the Diablo tuner. The only thing else I am going to add is a catback at a later time. Thanks.

not really worth it . . . something like hptuners, a mail order tune (contact member frost for this) or a dyno tune are the way to go

it would pay off even less. might be useful to change shift points and firmness but with an m6 not worth it. Check out Frost, i hear a lot of good things.

Total waste! Rookie mistak I wasted my money on one and then hooked it up to hptuners and no longer have the hand held tune. Plus with a hand held you are very limmited.

i have a diablo tuner that I only use for checking my diagnostics for my cars, that is about it I had it in the car until I tuned it by dyno and haven't looked back. It does come in handy to check the codes on GM's though.

At the drags bone stock.....Best was a 13.8......
Added a lid and a Jamms ram air cold air kit....Ran a 13.6..
Add a Diablo tune and ran a best of 13.1..

I know there are alot of factors involved but I'm not complaining

    I'm a A4 if that helps any.....

it really depends on the handheld you get. ones like hypertech won't do much. ones like diablo and vinci/crane will do more. i used to use the vinci/crane handheld. on my stock 00 formula i gained .2 and 1.4 mph in the quarter back to back runs. here's a write up i did on the tuner http://www.stealthram.com/vhptuner.htm
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

Having Steve do your tune is cheaper and will gain you more power then a handheld tuner. Steve has alot of experience with our cars and knows what works best. I have no complaints about my tune from him and he did a great job. My A/F was just about perfect for the mods i have and he answered all the questions i had so he will be there to help if you have any issues or just have questions. Ive used handheld tuners in the past and will never go back to using them just a waist of money.
