    which hand held programmer

im curious about hand held tuners. im wanting to do a few things to my camaro here really soon ie, removal of air/egr, headers, and the like. but im curious if there is even a programmer that is decently priced that would allow me to remove my air/egr, or would this be a mail in special, and get a mail order tune via frost? ive never had a programmer before so im actually curious about these. my friend recently got one for his truck, and it is a completly different animal now, so thats what sparked my interest in a programmer for my camaro. any information would be greatly appreciated here. thanks in advance guys

I have a Hypertech -- it will not allow me to do the things that you want. Mail order from Frost is the way to go. Just had mine tuned last month.

    Sadly now demodded :(

IMHO, handheld = junk for tuning.

OTOH, they're good for changing fan temp settings, changing tire size and gear ratio, little stuff like that.

Like stated, handhelds are not very useful, really a waste. Better off getting in touch with a tuner.

i have a diablo sport programmer that i bought from a friend and i like it but then again i only paid 125 for it. and i recommend it! after i change the factory shift firmness with the programmer it would "BARK" when shifting from first to second! so if you have an automatic i would get it and you can find one used on craigslist or something!

Better getting a mail order or having a local shop do a tune the handhelds are ok but you won't get anywhere near the same gains.
