    Got Some Codes

OK so i just got this 01 camaro from my dad, he said the SES light comes on and off sometimes.

    P0172
    P0175
    P0128
    P0442

OK so thats a too rich code on both banks, a low coolant temp code, and a EVAP leak, typically from a loose gas cap.

I'm gonna run it awhile, and see if any of them come back, but lets say they do, what do i need to do

Imho both front o2's need replaced, add coolant and/or check/replace rad cap may as well replace the temp sensor too, replace gas cap and check the vapor purge solenoid (sp) and the line leading up to it.. Clean the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner..

Ps switch to premium if you have'nt already. Good idea to grab a fuel filter while you're @ it. Especially if it has never been replaced and cheap gas has been run through it on a regular basis.. Then go (after fixing other issues) have the logs cleared even if you don't have a SES.. Also I don't know your mileage, but be prepaired for an "insufficiant catalist" code if the stock cat is still in service on the car..

OK I will get that done....can i swap O2s by myself?

The car has always had cheap gas, still on the tank i bought it with, but yes, it will have premium after this tank runs out, as well as some injector cleaner.

Where is this purge solenoid at? I know theres a valve thats on the fuel rail, cant remember the name, the relieves fuel pressure, used for swapping filters...is that it?

You think my temp sensor is bad? or is it more likely to be a sticking thermostat? my other 3800 had that happen, same code.

    mileage is 90k

o2's are pretty easy on our cars you can actually see and touch them from the top but easier from the bottom to change.

Your fly by wire so your purge solenoid is right next to your thermostat housing on the front right of the upper intake neck. It has a quick disconnect on a single hose that you just squeeze to release and just push to put back on. it also has 2 wires in it's plug one 10mm bolt holds it down.

I remember your thread. I remember you had baught an offset looking thermostat. Funny that's the one you need now lol. Temp sensor is cheap and just under the TB in the front of the LIM just an once of prevention is why I added it..

If you're still unsure I can give you pics of the various sensors I've spoken of from mine.. Except for yours not having power options and such we have identicly the same engine set up..

No the valve with the plastic cover on the left side of the rail is the schreoder(sp) valve.

You won't be purging it, only replace it if nessasary. Best way to see if it's working is to pull off the line going into it. There sould be constant vac pressure there (you can hear it) with the car warmed up to temp. If the engine is up to temp and there is no vac replace the valve..

Manifold is your source VAC so from the open valve you should hear it hiss pretty loud..

Oh and just a heads up on the spring loaded PCV valve. The valve looks like any othe regular valve it should rattle. BUT BE CAREFULL, wear eye protection!!!! Can't stress this enough bro the spring that holds it down in it seat is very VERY strong and will take some bute force to push it back down long enough to get the bolts started..

Well if you think they're functioning properly them try cleaning your MAF first. They prolly are okay I guess I should have clearified better. I just was more or less letting you know where and how to get @ them. The rear one post cat is nearly useless and only lets you know the cat is dead or dieing. If it is unpluged your engine will perform the same. Also if you ever need to replace the cat the SES light for catalist will reset and go out after a few engine start and run cycles.. Or you can have it cleared.
