    First tune ever

I put exhaust on my car which involved removing the cats. this threw a couple codes and my car is running very rich. Got a price on a tune for $750!! This seems crazy to me. What is the going rate for a tune. Does anyone know of a good place to go to get a tune in the detroit area? Should i but my own tuner if so what is the best one to get?

Mail order tune from Frost -- site sponsor. Runs $125 or so... Lots of good feedback and well respected on the site.

There are a lot fo people that can tune you for less than $750. Did this include dyno and street tuning?

I want to look at his print out but my brother said IPS quoted him $900 for a tune after a supercharger install. I think he's reading it wrong because I don't think they're that expensive. I haven't looked at his estimate yet.

To the OP $750 is too much. Should be in the $450-$500 max range for a complete tune. With your mods you could very easily get a tune from Frost for $125 and you'd be more than happy with it. He does great work and has excellent turn around. I'm sure some of his past customers will chime in.

Yeah that sounds like way to much for IPS. If I remember right they quoted me at something like $350 to $400 for a dyno tune

the only way I can see a chance at it being close to that is because it'd be a 2bar LS2 tune. Even then that's way too much. He has to almost be reading it wrong. He's already on my cable so I could do it for him if push came to shove.

You send him your cars computer in the mail, he tunes it and and sends it back. its about a week turn around time and all you have to do is undo your battery cable and unbolt your computer from the car. Easy as pie!
