    bolt only guys come in

Hey you guys with bolt on only cars, did you have you car tuned after all parts were on or did you run it as is? If so how?
    1.) dyno tune
    2.) mail order
    3.) handheld

Could you feel a difference at all after the tune? Was it worth the cost?

I did everything at once, the car was immediatley tuned after the header install so I can't tell on the difference. And people have ran w/o tunes and the car is still kickin so you would be fine. I had a dyno tune.

I did a mail order tune. I HAD to get it tuned b/c I changed the rear gears. So when I did that I also put on the headers with ORY, deleted the AIR system.

I like the tune. Frost did a great job. I figured I would save my money for a dyno tune later if/when I do H/C setup

car:2001 ws6 use-daily driver in summer time only!

mods as of now are: slp lid, 160* thermostat, and full exhaust

are there any other bolt on mods that should be done before a tune?

I dont have any plans of doing cam swap anytime soon if at all. Dyno numbers are not a big deal to me.

So with the mods that I have which tune would you have done? Or would you have it tuned?

the difference you get with a mail order tune vs stock tune is huge. Even with a mail order tune. If you are not going to be doing anything else for awhile I would do a mail order. It really wakes the car up

Since you changed to a 160 therm you need to get your fans set to kick on at 170 ASAP.

I cheated I put a manual fan switch in for a months before I got my tune. That is an option too

    I can get:
    dyno-$300
    mail-$125

So with the mods I have, I would be just as well of getting a mail order and saving money for something else?

is your car manual or auto?
what other mods would you do?
why do you want a tune?

It's an A4. Why because I have heard that these cars will run rich after headers and I would like to get codes deleted. Also 1/4 times are slower than last year and I think tune may have something to do with it. last year catback only 13.52 this year with mods I mentioned earlier 13.75.

OH A4, then a tune is even better. I would go with a mail order then. Save your pennies for more mods but if you get mods that would make a difference with a tune wait.

with a tune in an a4 shift points can be changed.

look in to a diffent intake manifold and make sure thats what u want... if u have an 98,01-02 u still ok with ur injectors but u cant be too far from maxing them out... might want to look in to a fule pump and injectors and make sure ur set up is what u want for a while and just pm FROST and tell him what u want and good to go

I've had Hooker LT and ORY almost 3 years now, no tune, no problems. The Hookers got my car in the 12s, best so far is a 12.89 @ 109.89 and highway gas MPG is better by 1.5. I also have a lid and Midas Ravin muffler. I would like to get an LS6 intake, then a Frost tune.

I had an interesting problem that may help answer your question.

I had my air bag diagnositc unit replaced and in the process of them synching the IPC to the module, they re-flashed my car to stock

That being said I have a GMMG cat back, the SLP cold air kit and a 160 therm. NO headers, stock intake manifold etc.

The car after being flashed back to stock made 309rwhp and 329rwtq, running 13.7:1 from 2000rpm to all the way to the red.

The car with a dynotune made 323rwhp and 343rwtq running 12.2:1 all the way to the red.

The biggest part was the power curve difference though, at 6000rpm with a tune it still made 306rwhp, without the tune it made only 265rwhp at 6000rpm. 41whp at redline is huge.

I have very basic mods and i noticed a very significant difference with a tune than without.

P.S. my best time with the tune was 12.94@109.9mph on street tires.
