AIR bank error
Hello, I'm new to this site, first post. My '99 TA, Flow Master cat back, Diablo 2 programmer and K&N filter, otherwise stock, 100k miles, is giving me a P1416 Air Bank2 error which is causing me to fail GA emmission. I've reset the computer a couple times with the programmer but the error returns in a day or two. My new Chiltons F-body manual is no help. Anybody out there have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim

from what I've heard sometimes the check ball gets stuck which can give you issues.

Had the same code, passenger side air check valve was clogged w/carbon deposits. Easy to replace yourself - GM PN is 12565503 but available at your local parts store.

Before replacing the check valve, pull the AIR hose off and spray some carb/throttle body cleaner or similar solvent into the check valve. Hold it up as best you can for about a minute or two so the cleaner/solvent doesn't pour out. Reconnect the AIR hose.
That should clean the deposits, which, along with the cleaner/solvent, will just trickle down the little pipe into the exhaust manifold and burn out the next time you run the engine. Clear the code and go to your GA emissions test. You'll pass with no problem.

It's the black disc shaped valve the screws into the metal air pipe coming off the exhaust manifold, then connects with a clamp to the air hose behind it, just above the #4 cyl coil pack.
