so heres the scoop, got an 01 ss ,equipped with lid, smooth below and k&n filter.got a max energy hypertech programmer at a super price---yes i know a real tune is better but gonna wait till car is modded heavily-run 91 octane...highest in my area.so programmed and tuned and i liked the power gain but am getting spark knock at the higher rpms,do you think i would benefit from a colder plug? will be installing 180 tstat soon also.i know its mainly due to timing curve since before the tune no knock.

You might try cleaning your MAF sensor, those programmers are junk but they shouldn't increase your timing enough to put you in the knock range.

If you had no knock before the hypertech tune, that is where your problem started. When you tune your car, do only one thing at a time and change settings gradually. It could be you threw off your timing on accident or overlooked something.

well i know its the advance of timing from the hypertech of course-just trying to be able to keep the tune--was able to quiet it down a bit with a 180 tstat and 1 heat range colder spark plugs-its basically gonna come down to gettin some higher octane fuel in there and it should be perfect.
