are you looking for a handheld or a full editor? What are your plans for the car?
I think vinci makes a handheld for the 98's. hptuners and efilive both make editors for the 98's.

so far i have added the slp intake kit(lid, filter, and scoop) i want to do long tubes and cat delete in the future. in your opinion do you think a handheld would be better or will the editior give me more power with just the mods i have.

The more you plan on modding the more likely you'll want to get a full tuning suite rather than a handheld.

I use EFILive to tune my 98 TA. I also used a HPPIII on it previously and was able to increase my performance by a little more than .1 sec, mostly through shift points and trans pressure changes. The power tune did not do much for a stock LS1 so I just used the stock tune. Never tried it on a modded motor. The HPPIII is for the 97-98 LS1 motors, I will sell it, if you are interested PM me.

The 98 ECM's were different than the 99's and up. LS1 Edit has software for them also. Depends on how well you can beat around it...
