    Question 1998 Corvette PCM vs 1999-2000 F Body PCM

    Ok, so my buddies dad purchased an LS1 with computer and harness from a 1998 Corvette. I have HP tuners for 1999 and 2000 F bodies and he will want me to tune it when he has completed installing it in his 67 camaro. I do not want to purchase more credits.

    Can he just find a computer from a 99-00 f body and it will work with the 1998 corvette harness?
    Does anyone have a part number for 99-00 f body PCM?
    Does he need to buy 99-00 f body harness and PCM and will it work with the 1998 corvette engine?

    He is better off with a later model computer. You just have to move a few pins in the harness to new locations for the later PCM.
    You have more options in the later PCM anyway so it's the way most people go. Check out EFI Connection for PCM and harness pieces if needed.

    99-02 computer will not work with the 1998 harness. If you go with a newer style computer you will have to change the harness and yes a 99 and up harness will work on a 98 ls1.

    You can repin the 98 wiring harness to work with the later ECM. Only glitch is to get the fuel gauge working.

    I was actually thinking about doing something like this with my 98. I just haven't been able to find a guide to repinning. That was definitely useful info though.

    Different application, but here is more info on how to repin the connectors. it's not hard, just have to label and work one at a time.
