    Zexel torsen 3.73s

    was looking in a slp mag. About some zexel torsen (i think there called) gears for my ss. Is anyone familiar with their strength and durability? And do I need that little slp speed control/a Idjustment box?

    Zexel torsen refers to the actual posi unit that is in the rear end the ring and pinion gears bolt to it and to the housing. The torsen unit howveer does use tiny internal worm gears inside itself to lock the differential to make it spin both tires however the actual rear end ratio gears are something completely different. Since you have a 98 you do not have the torsen differential 98 cars came with an auburn posi unit which uses clutches to lock the tires together. This is a zexel torsen differential with the big gear (ring gear) bolted to it. the auburn which is in your car is the next one down.2ajvno5.jpg Auburn differential 75 10 bolt image by RATExOFxFIRE on Photobucket
