ws6 rear end noise
i have a 99 ws6 that has a rear end noise. its a humming noise similar to that of a bad wheel bearing. just replaced the front passenger bearing but noise is coming from the back. happens when i turn right or let off the gas. i heard its a common problem and i need to change my rear end fluid. what do you guys think?

It is likely the rear left wheel bearing that is singing as turning right puts pressure on that wheel. This is not a guarantee though. You can pull the wheels and with the front end blocked for safety turn the hubs by hand to see if you can feel any irregularity. The bearing rides on the axle surface so if it is shot there is also a chance that the axle is tore up. Only way to tell is to disassemble it and see what is going on. This is all assuming that the noise is not emanating from the differential -- which is a known weak point on our cars, or even a bad u-joint, or a loose brake caliper (it has happened).

Just an FYI - they do make "repair bearings" that move the contact point with the axle in case yours is damaged.
