Whine from the rear
As I drive my car if my foot is on the gas there is not a problem but when I remove my foot and coast there is a whine that comes from the rear. Any ideas?

Yes. Sounds like a differential bearing is bad. Hard to diagnose over the internet, of course. Does it change when you go around a corner, loaded or unloaded?

Better look at it now before it sucks the pin in... that is the start of a loose pin, which means either you have a pin nut loosening or bad pin bearings.

If it's a whining sound, I would think it is a problem with the ring and pinion. If it were a bearing, I believe the sound would be more of a growling/rumbling/chattering sound. With foot off the gas, I would think it has to do with the backlash of the ring and pinion. It's not hitting the coast side (the back side) of the gear teeth properly. Pinion depth may be the problem, or back lash may be incorrect or out of spec/adjustment. The only way I know of to fix this, though would involve removing the whole diff. Not sure if on these cars the backlash/pinion depth is on-car adjustable.
Have you checked the fluid?
Also, does this happen when driving straight or when turning one direction? Both directions?

As a bearing goes bad or loosens up what happens ? settings change and when dealing with settings that have a .001 importance of being on or off, a loose or failing bearing or nut backing off will do exactly as stated.
Since the op like everyone else doesn't use much detail and we have to guess that the car suddenly started doing this and it wasn't recently rebuilt by a non professional then it would be the pin area that is of concern.

Have not done anything. Kind of laid up, I have to get back surgery. I will check the fluid and then do the checks with turning. Car has been doing this for a while, 2000 miles maybe.

Sounds like the carrier bearings are on the way out. Not an expensive fix. Should run you less then 100 dollars and about 4 hours of time. If you have R&P wear I would start looking into a 12 bolt or a 9". Good luck.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k
