    Swapping rear ends

I think my rear end needs replaced. I have the 3.23 GU5 option (3 carrier) with ABS and no TCS. Will a 2.73 GU2 (2 carrier) bolt directly on and function exactly the same? I'm not concerned about the 2.73's because I plan on replacing them with 3.73's. Is there any difference in these rear ends except the carriers? A used GU2 rear end seems much easier to come by and is cheaper from what I've seen.

If you have a rear with the same abs/tcs options as the rear you have already you are golden. I just did a rear swap in mine. I went from 2.73 to 3.42.

i just caught this post. can you tell me what rpm you are doing now at maybe 70 mph? i assume with the 2.73 it was about 1900, 1950 roughly. thanks. [i also assume you re-did your speedo after the swap]

Might wanna have the rear check. I have a 98 TA 3.23 3 carrier no tcs and I just damaged the gearsat 70k Got new gears and a rebuild kit from ws6store and it has been ok for about 7k miles now and i do beat on my car, it's a toy for me and I don't really car what breaks. I replaced them with 3.32's since I did alot of hwy but it's going in for 3.73's friday. So check 1st you may not need a rear.

The rear wheels are both slightly pointing inwards according to my mechanic. I believe the axle is actually bent.

Does it make a difference if the rear end I get comes from an automatic or manual? I'm having a hell of a time finding 3 channel, 3 series rear end even on Ebay. They all have TCS and I don't want to have to do that mod.
