stock rear end? how much can it handle?
I want to "beef up " my stock 10 bolt. I blew it up so I need to rebuild it. I know I should probably should put a moser or a ford 9" in it but I cant see spending close to 3k for that.
I want to replace the posi unit with an eaton. I also will get the rear end girdle offered on lmperformance.
My question is , has anyone ever made any brackets up to help support housing flex? if so any pics or info would be great
also what is the most hp anyone has put to a 10 bolt?
thanks for any info.00 ss camaro, 6.0 liter iron block, 4" callies crank, 4" Mahle pistons, Howards rods, Comp cam .598/.598, ported polished heads, Fast 90mm intake and tb flp headers and y pipe, lingenfelter muffler and tips, Maf, injectors, frame connectors.

you can get a well built 12 bolt or 9 inch for right about 2,000$ if you were to reinforce your 10 bolt with aftermarket axle shafts, rear end girdle, and new eaton posi and gears you would be spending around 1,000$ and it would still be a toss up. No1 can say when your 10 bolt will go out since they all seem to perform differently for people. Auto cars have the best 10 bolt life but will sticky tires some have snapped with stock horsepower ratings and others have brought people into the 10s. It is your decision on what to do obviously but I am pretty sure the majority on here will tell you its not worth it to spend 1000$ on a gamble like that.

Mine held up fine making 445 RWHP at altitude. Never launched the car hard though.
Pulled the 10 bolt before it gave me problems though. Moser 9".

YEP same here, stock 10 bolt with 4.11s. just never launch hard though at the track, highest I have dumped with ETs on was @5000 RPMs only a few times though. I did however when I placed the new gears in notice that 1 of my axles had a solid grove right around where the bearing sits, so I just replaced it. But yeah I am about to upgrade to a 9" when I get back later this year from the "good ole" sandbox.

I have never actually hooked from anything more than 4200 RPM's yet...even with the 9".

I hooked allright, low 1.8s 60fts. with about a 5K dump. I know I can get it lower though, will be trying after the 9" install and suspension.
