    STOCK rear-end blows

    I'm just tyring to figure a basis here I want to know at what hp and mileage have people blown out stock rear-ends at.

    Well my wife had a 01 firehawk M6 when we got married and it went out at 23000 miles.
    the dealer fixed it and it went out again three miles from the dealership.didn't even make it home, poor mechanicing on the second one. then it went out at 25000 it was then replaced with a currie unit. As far as i know its still holding up now

    wow thats some extremely bad luck on that firehawk was the car stock horse power?

    if you just drive the car normally only getting on it occasionaly etc. not beating the hell outta it, it should last forever

    on the other hand, if you make stupid mistakes aka shifting into the wrong gear, doing donuts etc, it will blow fast

    another achilles heel of the rear is stock + hp with sticky tires at the track

    No it was not stock but it blowed just driving it like a old person would. I guess the trips to the track got the better of it.

    I watched a guy in a 02'SOMWS6 go through a rearend while autcross racing..Car had less than 3,000 miles (Although i admit its not the rearend's fault, it was not properly broken in)
