Speed sensor ring!

Does anybody know where I can get a speed sensor reluctor ring for a 2002 trans am for the stock 10 bolt rear end, I've tried dealerships and AC delco but all of them told me the same thing that the product has been discontinued. This is so stressing as to why you would discontinue a stock part on a vehicle that wears out or fail.

what happened to the one in your rear ?
they don't wear out or fail,failure is in the sensor.
did you break it ?

I am guessing there are a lot of broken 10 bolts laying out behind members' garages. Post up in the Parts Wanted section and see what happens.

I'm not sure exactly what the main cause was but my whole rear took a shit on me. The ring and pinion were completely destroyed and the carrier was cracked, when i looked at the reluctor ring the teeth on it were all banged up and parts of them missing!

Smittro what state are you located in? I live in Texas and i have gone to all the junk yards within a 150 mile radius and none of them had a 4th gen. f-body there.

Our local boneyard no longer acquires F-bodies.

I used to be a junkyard regular on weekends back when I was in high school and college. Sourced a lot of great parts and upgrades to my cars through the years.

Try Trans Am Creations on the web... they have just about everything. Tell them I sent you.

LOL PA near Pittsburgh. We get winters and yes they have lines of them.. Just 3 months or so ago I bought a roller Camaro (gone), and a wiper arm..

I should probably take this whole the reluctor ring being discontinued for the 10 bolt as a sign and just get a moser 9inch, which was my original plan to do so but i hate having downtime on my car. Gotta change the drive shaft and all that good stuff, its such a hassle but i guess hopefully worth it in the end.

Upgrading the rear is a great idea. You may want to consider another brand than Moser -- they seem to be hit or miss on their setups. I have the Moser 12 bolt... and a decent amount of whine to go with my cheese.

How bad is the whine?

At light cruise, around 1,800 - 2,000 r.p.m. or so, it is loud. Under acceleration and at higher r.p.m.'s it is almost absent. Also, the fact that I run a tunnel mount torque arm does not help.

No problem with my M9. I run a tunnel mount arm as well. But as Jeff said, it does seem to be hit or miss. I swapped my rear in pretty much 1 day, by myself. Used the same driveshaft, just swapped u-joints. If it were me, I would upgrade, if you can.

I thought you had to get a shorter driveshaft when you upgrade to a nine inch?

Nope. Actually the stock one is about 1" short. Most of the time the play in the slip yoke will allow for it. Some have experienced a vibration issue which was attributed to the driveshaft. I've never had a problem. I do run a carbon fiber driveshaft though. I just swapped u-joints. Works quite well.

If your running a carbon fiber driveshaft than its not a stock one, but your saying the carbon fiber one you have is the same length as a stock aluminum driveshaft?

You are correct. I upgraded to the carbon fiber one before installing the 9". I ran it for about 2 years with the stock 10 bolt. I should have stated that it is the same length as a stock driveshaft.

That is very interesting, i always thought the length of the driveshaft had to be changed. Can you get away with using the stock torque arm? eventually I'll upgrade both the driveshaft and torque arm, but for now it be nice to get away with it. It would definitely get things going and not put a big hole in my pocket for now lol
