Shifting issues

When I run my car WOT if I let it shift itself or shift myself it doesnt shift to the next gear right away. A few times first gear wound out til it hit the rev limiter. I started shifting myself but when I slip it into second it doesnt shift right away, is there something I can do to this trans? Is there a good aftermarket race trans? Anyone run a manual valve body?

You need a programmer to lower the shift points. I let mine shift itself at WOT...
I started with the hypertech programmer, then went to HP Tuners software.
