i'm not sure what you mean by your first question, but you won't have to do anything extraneous to swap gears. your ratio all depends on what ya wanna do and what tranny ya got. if you drag race and drive on street then 3.73's would be good for a 6 speed. if you're into road racin, swappin the gears prob isnt a good idea. 4.10's seems to be what auto's get for the strip.

sure, but the auto prob likes 4.10's better for drag racin. someone with an auto will chime in eventually to confirm.

If its a street car and A4 Tranny 3.73 gears is just right for street use. In the future pair it up with a converter and tranny cooler with a good tune. Your gonna need the tune either way because your speedo will be off plus auto's respond really well.

What mods do you have or are you planning? If you are at a relatively stock or mild build and are planning to stay that way, 3.90's would be an awesome choice coupled with an at least 3600 rpm Stall converter and tranny cooler.

If you plan on going all out on modding your car, (over the 425RWHP range) then I would stick with 3.73's. However in any case you WILL NEED TO get a decent Stall converter. That alone will shed close to .5 seconds off your track ET's.
