    rearend gear

i was wondering if there was anyway to strengthen my rearend by getting new gears. i know im not the only one that doesnt want to pay for a $2300 rearend. i havent dyno'd my car yet but i think im getting close the the point where i might need to start looking at doing somthing about the stock / weaker rear end. i was thinking of going to the 3.42 gear so i can still have a fair amount of top end speed i have a stage 2 A4 anyone with opinions would be helpfull. would a simple gear swap strengthen it enough for about 400hp?

Spending $$$ on your 10 bolt is just throwing money away IMO. Even though I've had no issues since I had 410s and a master rebuild kit put in I wish I would have just saved for a 9in. I know once I do H/C swap it will just be a matter of time before I need a new rear.

And no a simple gear swap won't make your rear stronger. Sure you will/could get stronger gears but you will still have a weak ass 10 bolt with crappy axles, carrier, etc...

Since its an A4, and you want to dump money into the rear I would recommend the Moser 12 Bolt rear. And like rc74racer I also really don't recommend just upgrading the gears...especially when more mods are going to be put in place later. A 10 bolt on these cars aren't worth modding in my opinion unless you are low on cash, but I would still tell you when you'd get the money to save up for a better rear if you run your car alot.

I wouldnt even want to change the stock gears in it, it will make the car weaker.
Yea the 10 bolt is weak but as long as your not launching it too hard, or putting slicks on it, then it would hold up better.
When launching at the track your going to want to spin. Getting some suspension mods and a girdle can help the rear by not putting as much stress on it as well.
