Autos usually should get a 12 bolt, and the m6s usually got the 9"

M6 or A4....I would go Moser 9" with whichever gears you choose.

    10 bolt < 12 bolt = D60 < 9" < M9

The M9 unit is for a complete drag car. It is perfect for the car looking to run 7's or better...with ANY tranny.
The Moser 9" is a perfect rearend for the VERY stout and lower powered street car. It can handle cars into the 8's and will act damn near like a stock car.
The 12 bolt and D60 have a housing that attaches to the torque arm in a matter I don't care for. Donuts and hard launches would be a good way to 'tweak' either housing. The D60 is a solid rearend when it comes to internals though....even a touch stronger than the 9". I just don't like how it mounts to the torque arm...which is vital.

The stock 10 bolt isn't junk. Just isn't worth putting any money into. It can handle A4's into the 11's and 10's. But I have also seen them blow up on a mostly stock car on the street with an M6.

I convinced a friend of mine to run a 9" with his newly built 650'ish' RWHP A4 build.
I have another friend that dropped a 9" into his 10 second A4 car.

    Up to you though.
    I run a Moser 9".
