Rear ends, rehashed!!
I was intently reading all the threads about the perils of the Torsen 10 bolt. Since most of them are from last year and my Torsen has a case of the "Rusty Screw" virus, my question is this: For my week-end cruising, no drag racing, sometime clutch popping 10 bolt, what would be the fix of least resistance?? I've heard, "don't put $ into your 10 bolt.." "12 bolts seem to give a higher rear stance and problems with the TQ arm reinstall..." Is there anything that I could get that is better and yet just bolt in?? NO probs with brakes, springs, brackets, drive shaft, etc., etc.??

How much you willing to spend?
Aftermarket 12 bolts and 9" are the most common, Dana 60's are starting to get popular.
They can be built to order ranging from $2300-$3500.
Shipping to HI might bite you.

''Rusty screw''? Haven't heard of that, my WS6 has the Torsen. Please explain? I have no problems with my diff, 116k now. I did put a girdle on it and weld in the axle tubes. $150 investment, and I do go to the dragstrip occasionally, but no drag radials ever.

Rusty Screw is a noise made by some Totsen units, this term was so named in a GM TSB. It sounds like a chunching noise. The GM answer is a diff fluid change ( 75/90 Synthetic ) with some limited slip additive even though the Torse does not have clutches. I would use a T/A girdle as well. This should take car of your problem for now but I see a 9" rear in your future.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

Never heard these issues before....Mine sits the same and the torque arm slides right on.
No other options really, just what's mentioned here (12 bolt/9"/dana) and they all set you back some coin.
Not a fan of the torsens myself. How you approach fixing anything in the rearend department is going to depend on your pocket book.

What FBJ said. My 12 bolt slid right in with no issues and no change in ride height.

Thanks! I usually wipe stuff down whenever I have the car up in the air. Just a few little spots here and there that need minor attention. The underbody on our car was super clean when we bought it -- part of the reason I caved and went with an A4 version.

I've had my Moser 9" for about 4 years now. No issues with the BMR Trak Pak I have installed or the rear end. It's as quiet as the day I installed it. I've put about 15,000 miles on it now, 6,500 of those with 500rwhp and sticky tires. I'm also running a 4.11 rear gear ratio.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.
