Rear end gearing?
LS1 from 2002 Firebird with 4L60E installed in 55 Chevy. Does anyone know what gear ratio the original machine had in it? Any suggestions as to what ratio would be good for a cruising only car(the car will be used for shows/cruising the coast etc) and want to get the computer programmed for the new gears is necessary. The current rear end is a stock 55 with 355 ratio.

The 02 Firebird with an auto most likely had a 2.73 ratio (unless it was a Trans Am WS6, which had a 3.23).

Thanks for the info. It was out of a ram air firebird and is the 325 HP version with the 4L60E and computer attached.

Think the 355 gears would be close enough or should I change to say 336? The 336 is rather common to the 55 chunk. I am putting a posi unit in it anyway.
