No real HP rating to rely on, but people end up with broken rear ends off of stock HP
Is you car an auto or M6?

Yep, the 10 Bolt rear end is pretty weak... You may or may not be find. But if you plain to run that rear end for some time, look into some SFC's to try and eliminate wheel hop.

If you have an auto save up some money for at least a 12-bolt
    if its a 6 speed you'll be better off with a 9-inch

hello people's! my 1st post...i still have the stock rear end, had problems with it when i 1st bought the car a couple years back, but i purchased a mac rear end girdle, umi boxed style weld in subframe connectors, umi control arms , and umi panhard bar, no problems since i had my rear end over hauled and all those upgrades, BUT if you have a 6 speed i would get a 12 bolt 9 inch, those axles are bullet proof man!

yes, yes it really is garbage since it cost an arm and a leg to fix, but itll do since im just a daily driver...seems to be fine with the rear end girdle though...

You would be throwing your $$$$ away. Start saving for a 9".

9" is in the $2500 range depending on options like carrier choice, axles and if you go 3 or 4 channel...

    rear-end web-site

Exotic Performance Plus does a lot of 9" rear-end builds, they list their prices on line. they use a lot of parts from Moser Engineering.

I struggled with this decision last month. There is a lot of good information in this thread: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125182

Welcome! Stock rear end is totally worthless, I just had the axle seal replaced (again) last week on mine. I'm saving for some mods now but the rear is total crap, second on my list to get upgraded.
