    Possible rear end build

I have a friend that offered to help build a new rear. I wanted to do some research before actually asking his help and curious what all do you need to buy with a new rear.

I know that there's a moser 9 that supposedly is straight bolt on for f-bod's and from what I've heard it's pretty sweet. Can anyone help with what else I might need, so that I can price it with the wife. Don't know if there are any complete kits to be found or not.

If you know any place with a good deal I would greatly appreciate that info also.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the link, I'll look through. I'm not honestly sure what all I want as I don't really understand the makeup of the rear. I like the 9 that was built for f-bods as I hear it really does bolt up. Also, switch the gears to 4:10's, but other than that I'm not sure.

2 channel - No ABS or TCS
3 channel - ABS or TCS (only one)
4 channel - ABS and TCS

    I like the 9"
Torque arm mount seems more reliable to me.
The D60 might be stronger, but not much to worry about with a 9". Several VERY fast cars using the 9".

Great, thanks Luos. Do the 6speeds have TCS? I know there's no button, but is there some form of it, or is a 3channel sufficient?

If you don't have a button, your car doesn't have it.

I figured I'd get down and dirty today and see what inside of the differential looks like. After popping the top I realized that there was really not much fluid in there. Also, saw bubbles (Dunno if thats normal or not). Other than that everything seemed in decent shape.

Got everything pulled sprayed some rust X on the case and painted it silver since I cannot put anything back on my car that's rusty. Used some red RTV Gasket maker and took her for a spin.

Saw a little dark spot underneath after my test drive which might be a leak but it was real dark and I'm hoping came from around one of the bolts.

    Here's where I started

    Bubbles WTF?

    Rust Exterminator sprayed on

Followed by some high heat silver

Never used RTV so hopefully I put the gasket on properly

    Finished and Filling her up.

    Did you enjoy that smell??

Hard to judge by looking at pictures.
Not sure about the bubbles. Probably a good thing you got the fluid swapped out.
Did you use the LSD additive and 2 quarts of fluid?

Edit: Yeah the rotten eggs smell was great. My wife thought I farted, J/k.
The RP says it has limited slip additive. I heard that I need two qts but could only get 1 3/4 in before it started overflowing. Filled on level ground.

I checked this morning and there's a small dot of greasy funk around the bottom bolt. went after them with the wrench again and they could use the tightening.
