    posi unit

With the posi out of a car, is it possible to counter rotate the axles using pry bars or would the force be too great. I would like to check the pinion gears.

Just shine a flashlight inside and you should be able to see the pinion gear without any trouble. Are you inspecting for chipped teeth or a noise ?

    pinion

I cant see all of the the teeth, I want to see them rotate. If they are jammed or broken I could have a real locker.

With the center section out of the housing you should be able to rotate the pinion yoke without any trouble. If you have chipped ring gear teeth you have a problem but the pinion gear holds up better and if damaged will usually chip towards the pointed end. If you have any doubts about the condition of your R&P I would pull it apart or even better, upgrade to a 12 bolt, 9" or S60. Its Christmas, you deserve it. Just take the CC out of your wallet and dial the number. lol
