2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
so Z's came with posi and and v6's came with LSD?
I was just wondering about this the other day

posi and LSD technically are the same thing, though some of the older guys will argue that. As far as I know, unless the performance axle option was picked, the V6s got the open rear diff.

ive always thought LSD was close to full posi, but they work a little different.
Im thinking on a lift, with LSD if you turn one wheel, the other spins opposite, with posi they roll the same.

Positraction and Limited slip are essentially the same thing. Basically a type of differential that distributes torque to both wheels, instead of just one wheel as in an open differential.
All 98-02 V8 F-bodies came with limited slip differentials, early models were clutch type (Auburn), later models were helical gear type (Torsen).
A select few V6 cars were available with limited slip diffs, I believe it was part of some "performance package".

Just FYI, rear end gears require a precise install and setup. If you don't know how than find someone who does. Or find a whole rearend assembly at a junk yard
