New Rear End, no idea where to start...

Well i'm sure you guys can tell im pretty new here. Always loved the camaro's and finally got myself one. Its an 01 White Z28 with about 80k on the clock. Started hearing noises, then it finally dropped on me. I've decided to go with the Strange 12 Bolt, but i have a few questions. Honestly i have no idea whats up with spool. Whats the eaton posi? Is it worth the $500+? And whats the difference between the 3 channel and 4 channel? Thanks for any help at all.

Spool is a locked gear set where no matter what both wheel will turn the same speed, in corner or under acceleration, both will turn the same. Eaton Posi is a posi or positive traction unit where, under normal operation it acts kinda like an open diff. If enough slipping on one tire it will try to balance out the power.

The big differance will be in corners, where the spool will have a tendancy to skip the out side tire as it will be tuning the same speed as the inside, a posi will stop or reduce that. A spool ir pretty much only good if you do alot of drag racing.

3 channel is with out traction control, 4 channel is with traction control to keep it simple.

Orcus has got it right. You CANNOT drive a spool on the street.

and 3 channel is ABS only, 4 channel is both ABS/ASR for you camaro guys
