    New axle shafts

    Hello,
Need to replace at least one of the axles on my wifes 2000 Z28. Everywhere I look on line I see W/O traction control. Are they the same axles and the TC must be switched over? If so how is it connected, bolted or pressed on? How hard is it to switch? Also where are some good places to find the axles I need?

I think the reluctor needs to be pressed off the old axle shaft and onto the new one.

I need to get a shop press... I found a cheapo w/ a hand pump on eBay for like 200 +150 for shipping. if Jeff hadn't already said he had a lift in his garage I would completely think that all his pics from his rear end install thread were takin inside of a shop lol. I'm jealous!!

Took a lot of years before I sprung for the lift. Best addition to the garage so far. As far as shop presses go -- I picked up a nice unit from Grizzly for $209.00 a few years back:

a 3 channel(ABS) axle is different than a 4 channel(ABS & TC/ASR) axle, the reluctor ring from a 4 channel axle cannot be pressed onto a 3 channel axle as it has no machined diameter to accept the ring.

thankyou so much for posting this pic. I have for years wanted to see the 2 axles put side to side in a pic to see the difference

Thank you so much. I would have hated to order one and take the other out before seeing the difference. Now the question is can I purchase the 4 channel axle and how do I ask for it so I get the right one sold to me?
    Thanks,
