    moser 9 inch

Hey guys , been a while since iv'e been on. Had a moser 9" put in the car this year. It is rock solid but damn it makes alot of noise. Is this normal ? A little feedback would help. Around town it's a little noisy but 55 or 60 it get just damn annoying. Is this normal or maybe some adjustments need to be made. 31 spline , 370 gear , detroit true trac posi.

What type of noise are you hearing? I presume it's gear whine at 55 - 60 mph?

Mine is about two years old, w/ 4.10's & a spool... It makes the whining sound too. I think my extreme duty torque arm amplifies the noise into the body of the car...

see I have the same set up, but no whine what so ever. maybe its cause the exhaust is dumped, but ill find out this summer when I swap to a catback again

9" with locker here. Barely notice any noise at all out of mine anymore. Locker acts up every now and then But it doesn't really bother me.

Sorry guys, it's been a while since i could get back on. Yes to answer questions it is gear whine that I am hearing, and quite a bit. After a 250 mile trip I almost threw myself out of the moving car. Should it be that loud or does it need to be adjusted.? 370 gear. I do also have the body mounted torque arm, lower control arms, pan hard bar and sway bar all with urithane bushings. I know it might transfer more noise but seems a bit rediculous.

Mine with 4.11 is quieter then the exhaust. In fact only on occasion do I even hear the gears back there and I have to listen very closely for it to hear over all the other noises.

One of the things we did when first installing the rear was put the car on jacks (just the rear) and bring it up to about 4th idle. Then we shut the car off with the clutch in and just let the wheels free spin to hear what was going on. Mine was almost dead silent. Also checked after the first few break in drives to see how hot the casing was. I would guess something is not set right.

You might want to check the gear oil. Any sign of a slow leak ?
The body mount torque does amplify, but your's might need checked.

Thanks guys, I have all my work done so I'll bring it back and have them go through it. Getting the trans done anyway so while they have it I'll have them reset it if they need to. I didn't think it should be that loud. I mean I turn the stereo up half way and you can still hear it whine.

Was this rearend bought or was it put together by the installer? If it was bought, I would get in touch with the seller and see what they can or will do to make it right.Don't want to be opening up a rearend that my be fixed by the seller. Now if someone put it together for you they have it setup wrong. There should be very little noise coming from the rearend.
