Just put 4.10's in my car and it really made a differnce!

I changed them out last week and have really liked the way it acts with the 4.10's.

I have a M6 in my car. The gears are factory GM gears. I have only had the car up to around 115MPH in 6th so I really don't know how much top end I lost yet. I will let you know though!

Is it better to just change gearing or opt for a 12 bolt or 9 inch? I know thats quite a difference but I plan on doing a few things, just wondering where the money could best be spent. Do you drag race at all?

I already had the gears and the carrier from another rear end I had laying in the shop. I just bought the normal install kit(shims, crush sleeve, nut and marking compund). I think I paid around $25-$30 for that. I do all of my own gear changes in everthing I run so I didn't have to pay a shop to do it. Then I topped it off with Amsoil severe gear oil 75w90.

It really depends on what else you are planning on doing and how much you beat on your car.. It is common knowledge that the 10 bolts cant really take a beating. I got lucky with mine and got a few nitrous passes out of it and it never went bad but I still opted to change it. Just remember they are weak and if your tires hook really well, something may break. I wouldnt want to see an LS1 with some nice mods disabled because of overlooking a rear end. Gears are fairly cheap but wont make it any stronger..
