I have looked and still looking into this swap as well. With a pair of convertable 4th gens, one 6 speed and one auto.
I am in the same boat,,,,,,, when I bought the 02 SS convertable in NBM. You just can't be picky about transmissions when buying a car like that.
I like the 6 speeds as well and enjoy driving the other one.
Best thing to do is find a donor car. Grab everything you can, cross member, pedals, slave cylinder, line, trans, console center etc.....
There are a few mods you have to do to the wire harness for everything to function properly,,,but it's not to bad if you are the slightest bit mechanically inclined.
Don't bother trying to adjust on your auto tune to work with the 6-speed, too many people have ran into silly problems doing this. Best thing to do at this point:
Once it's all installed you will have to flash the computer with a stock bin file 6-speed tune that matches your year car. Thats easy to do as well.
If you go to GM High Tech,,,,they had a writeup in their magazine several months back that explained everything in detail as they did this swap. Probably find it on their website....

Ya I like stall converters as well, and run them in a few other cars. Problem is the converter I would like to put in the 02 SS runs about $900 Makes the 6 speed swap look pretty tempting.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. I use a fuddle stall and just the street/strip version which is like $450 I think and I've been very happy with it. Been running it for 2-3 years now with zero issues.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
I paid about $500 for my TCI 3800 3-4 years ago. Never had an issue with it.

pretty straightforward install. If you do this install PM me and I'll send some tips your way....like those little E-clips that hold the line onto the tranny. Took me a bit to figure those out....and I lost one. $10 a piece and came as a set of 4 I think. $40 for 1 little clip.
