    How to tell what gears?

Im looking at buying a 2000 Z28 A4. I want to know what gears it has either 2.73s or 3.23s? how can you tell? Do the majority of autos have 2.73 or 3.23?

    Thanks

    Sadly now demodded :(

    Also: Steel driveshaft = 2.73's; Aluminum driveshaft = 3.23's.

By now you never know though. My door sticker sez GU2 (and that's what it was when I bought it) but I now have 3.73's and an aluminum ds.

Why the change to an aluminum driveshaft???

I'm just getting ready to change gears and now would be the right time. Thanks.

did SS models use same gear throughout run, same with z28's.
do ss modes use the RPO GU5 - 3.23's , or is it all mix and match and check my code ?

I think the better question is 'Why not?'

Lighter, pretty damn durable unless you are cutting 1.6xx or better at the track.

    A4 SS = 3.23; M6 SS = 3.42....

Dealer models (HotRod, Dale Earnhart, GMMG, etc), OTOH, generally used 3.73 for A4 and 4.10 for M6.

See "Mr. Lous's" post above. I'd go with a carbon fiber driveshaft if I could justify the cost.

Remember: Reduced rotating mass = faster ET....
