Gears
Got my rear end rebuild 2 days ago
got 3.73 n I dnt like em
the car feels so slow at the take off
I can't even do a burnout or get the car sideways
is that cuz of the rear end?
My last 98 z28 I was able to take off fast n do crazy burnouts
take the car sideways for long distance
n I loved it. I regret my self cuz I sold it
n it had both tires spinin. Posi
what gears it had?idk
I always tought it was stock 3.42
so if I want to take off faster n be able to do burnouts whAt do I have to do?
Go for stock or bigger gears 4.10s
help me out I'm new to diz idk nothin bout dat
thanks

First off, you shouldn't be getting on it and trying to do burnouts if you just had the rear end rebuilt. There is a break-in period.
I don't think your gears have anything to do with that fact that you can't do a burnout. I did burnouts all the time when my car was stock with the stock rear end and 3.42 gear.
How are you trying to do a burnout anyway? What kind of tires do you run? Is the car driving sluggish or missing at all? How does it shift?

I asked the guy if I should wait n do the breake in he said no. It's ready for anything I said ok
and by the ways it has 35 miles on new rear end lol
how many miles is the breake in?
on my last car I done burnouts n all that bt diz one jst feels lazy dnt wanna run when it's on the freeway it feels better
bt still lazy you step on the gas n u get no response
I dnt knw wats wrong with it
I tought could be the gears
I didn't drive it b4 with the old rear end
I got some nitto tires nt555 I think
they are like 40 left on them 285/40/17
it shift fine with no problem it's jst thati dnt feel no balls on it at all
any idea?
Thanks

Do you have the regular Nittos or the drag radials.
Is your SES light on? If the car feels sluggish, you can try cleaning the MAF and see if the response gets better.
If you are running DRs, they aren't quite as easy to break loose.
On my aftermarket rear end the break in period was 500 miles.

I have 3.73's and a lousy A4 and I could easily burn that size tire up. Probably get a couple feet on the 1-2 shift at wot. There is something wrong but not the gears. Try hitting a Auto Zone or your mecanic and use the code reader it's free at AZ and see if there are codes that may not be setting the light off. Even a dirty MAF shouldn't cause that bad of a power drop but will affect power. Another thing since you have a 98 like me my fuel pump started going out right before 80k and I noticed a power drop. maybe yours is worse than mine was and can put out more than enough just to get the car moving and not produce any real hp. I'm a painter and do some mechanical work but don't know much more than what has cause my 98 issues.

You can have your fuel pressure reading taken using a pressure gage at the rail. It should read around 58 PSI.
