    Question Future Tranny Help

    Alright my car is my daily driver and when my tranny goes out I want to build something capable of handeling around 500 hp.. and Im getting one of those 3600 yank stalls btw... what would I need to have done to a stock unit to handle this power???

    You'll come out cheaper just buying a Performabuilt Stage 2 4L60E. The one I have is good to 700hp and was around $1500.00 which is what you'll pay to get yours rebuilt. I had 2 rebuilt and they never did work right. Shift kits, Raybestos clutch packs and the good stuff. But it was a waste of money because you can buy a better product than the local boy can build. Don't waste your money.

    Thanks.. I changed my fluid in my tranny today and it was black with a lot of metal. its has 150xxx and found out how much power i was loosing to that back fluid...

    i will go with this one. thanks

    At 150K miles changing the fluid was not the best of moves. That thick fluid was helping your clutches apply.

    Incorrect. It was hurting it because it shifts great now and im getting better mileage and more power. I added a quart of lucas to it so it would thicken it back up as well.

    Tomorrow comes the new u-joints and diff fluid. My tranny was making this wierd shuttering sound when it downshifts from overdrive.. that crap is gone now
