Differential rebuild?

i got a friend that has a problem with the differential..... when he's rolling around all you hear is clunking from the rear end. like something is inside there moving around need help thanks guys

most likely a complete rearend rebuild including gears, seals, and bearings. Possible the differential too if chucks of metal chewed it up

Don't know till you open it, if it clunks just rolling he's probably better off going to the bone yard

He may also have fragged the carrier. I went through two stock carriers, and they both made a clunking noise when they went.

When you say "rolling around" if you mean coasting around turns (left truns especialy) the noise is normal. Mine had it from day one. Just the worm gears inside banging on the case.

Mine chewed a few teeth off on a road trip when I was running it hard. Just had to get a new motive gear set and a ratech deluxe install kit which has all the seals and other crap it says to rebuilt the rear. I dunno I ordered the gears and kit and had it installed. No more issues till I break it again. Next time i'm hoping to have the cash for a 9" and do it right.

Just gotta take the cover off to know what really is wrong with it. I'd bet some teeth have been chewed off
