    Angry Busted Transmission

    Help:

I thought I would post this and see if any of the racers in the FORUM can explain or give suggestions to my problem.

    Here it is:

I have a 1974 Camaro that I built and HIGHLY modified for the drag strip. It has a 468cbi motor running on alcohol, long tube headers, etc. Motor makes roughly 850RWHP.

The problem is I keep busting transmission, cracking the transmission housing. I'm on my fith transmission this MONTH. At 1,000 to 5,000 a pop it is getting the best of me and my finances.

Last night I ran the car down the track without a burnout and no problems. First heat I did my burnout pulled in to stage and transmission fluid poured out from the top of the tramsission.

Drop the transmission this morning and again the housing is cracked and now JUNK. This "bullet Proof" transmission cost me 5,000 and was just put in on Monday to run Saturday night. Brand new transmission and now brand new junk.

    WHY??????

Anyone have any idea(s) why this car continues to bust transmissions? I've not got to run this car in a full race this year for all the transmission troubles. Every week since the first of July I have had nothing but transmission problems and busted transmission.

ANY SUGGESTION or SOLUTIONS will be greatly appreciated.

What kind of motor and trans mount are you running? Ie: solid or poly?

Chevy Big Block motor, Manual transmisson, solid mounts, and my local speed shop is ordering and in a couple of the cases built transmissions.

My gut feeling is to much horsepower in a rigid setup, with all the HP something has got to flex and it is coming down to the trans.

Didn't really have an issue when I was running a small block gas motor.

I have had it lined out in Memphis on a lazer machine and all components are in line ie motor, trans, drive shaft, rear end.
