    axle weight?

what is the diff, between the 10 bolt and 12 bolt isnt it like 30 lbs and what is the total weight? also i callled strange and they said their s60 axles are alot stronger and cheaper but my car may never have over 450 horses

also i have a 88 dodge ram with a 440 i put in it, right now i have a chrysler 9.25 in it with 3.21 ratioand am wanting a 3.90 ratio so should i get the dana 60 to hold the torque or is the 9.25 strong enough with a rebuild, the truck weighs 4400 lbs and has 400 hp , does anyone know the weight of the dana 60 cause this guy i was talking to who thinks he knows everything said a dana 60 weighs 900 lbs , my guess would be 400 tops,

    whats your input

Someone told youna Dana 60 axle weighs 900lbs?? They must be smoking something, thats beyond ridiculous. Even 400bs is a high number, a GM 10 bolt probably weighs about 150lbs, so I'd figure maybe 200lbs at the most for a Dana 60.

    900lbs

this guy is a diesal nut, he thinks if its not a cummins its not a truck and if its not worked on by him it doesnt run right , but i did ofer to race him several times in my 440 88 ram against his cummins , he also THINKS that when he put the 44 inch tires on his truck it gave it more power cause a diesel under load creates more power

....sounds like it would dog it down with the higher ratio and extra weight
