A4 to M6?????
Im thinking on doing a automatic to manual conversion on my 98 ss. I was just curious is it overall a "bolt on" process? Or is it more confusing than it seems. So far as the shifter would i have to cut? And does any modification have to be done to add the clutch pedal? Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Don't forget about all the hydraulics (master cylinder, slave, the lines, etc...) plus a new console, clutch, flywheel, and other things i'm sure i'm forgetting. It's an expensive proposition you are much better off just selling the A4 and getting an M6 if that is what you really want.

Welcome my friend to the wonderous ownings of a M6. Hopefully everything goes good for you. Heres what to expect.
Warning: May increase gas mileage, may increase enjoyment, may let you dyno higher, may give you advantages in a roll race, may let you auto cross faster due to control of vehicle, may make friends jealous, may feel a rumble in the shifter due to power. May increase tranny life since T56 is almost indestructable.Last edited by blackSS01; 06-01-2008 at 02:03 PM.

i have done the conversion several times that link should help you let me know if you need anything else. It can be done very quickly if you have all the right components and know what you are doing the best way is to have everything from donor car.

Im doing the same thing. All the little parts are pretty cheap. The only expensive thing is the trans and clutch. Im not even changing the wiring harness. The hardest part is the master cylinder.

With all due respect you did miss a few. For example;
Warning: May increase chances of breaking the 10 bolt, May cause an increase in ET at the drag strip, may cause slower launches, may cause inconsistancy in bracket racing, may cause misshifts, may cause slipping clutches, may cause you to feel cooler then you really are (Just kidding).

Yes, the T56 is awesome, but the 10-bolt ain't even close... it's the weak link on F-bodies (along with the power window motors).

Wow i forgot about this thread. Well everything turned out great, surprisingly very simple considering i had everything to do it. Cars been running great for about a year now. Most difficult part was matching up the holes for the master cylinder but even that took me less than an hour. Measure twice cut once is a must when dealing with this.

Back from the dead. Either way, Why anyone would swap from a Auto to a Manual is beyond me. I suppose different people have different goals, but a stalled auto is hard to beat. For sure better then buying clutch's.
