Maybe get an extra third member,4.56 for the 1/8 mile track, then the 4.10 for the 1/4 mile ! I have a 78 Bird, with the ford 9" and 4.56 gears. Can't wait to try them out !!!
Of coarse it has 31" x 13" tires on that one...

With a more typical 28 inch tall tire and an LS1 with a cam that is high strung I would be willing to bet the 4.56 would be a nice match at the strip.
I've seen alot of guys just go for the 4.30's and pass up the 4.10's right from the get go and it works nicely on both LT1 and LS1 cars. 4.56 isn't too much more.

True... My 98 has a moser with a spool & 4.10 gears, 28" tires...
My best ET was a 10.63 @ 126mph at 6900 rpm's...

i think it will work out ok never put slicks on the car because of the 10 bolt but now with a 9 inch with 4.56 gears that i purchase i think its time cant wait

A lot of engine mods, heads ported, 2.02 / 1.6 valves, cam .......

A little bit at a time !!! Had the car since 99 and been modding ever since !
My new motor is 14:1 CR, but the stock bottom motor still ran high 10's !!!

I think my best on the modded stock motor was a 10.73 on good fall air.
Still tweaking the new motor...

Stock stroke & 3.905 hone fit lunati +12cc domes with 5.3 milled, ported, and SS 2.02 / 1.6 valves. H-beam rods, & well balanced. I figured that should rev like a Kawasaki motor !!! I'm getting ready to throw in a high rpm cam. ( 4000 - 7400 )

NBM / Silver- 00 SS / 71 SS Elcamino
4.30's here and I am right in the sweet spot at the track passing the line at 6550 rpm in fourth with a 26.5 tall tire with 410 RWHP. 4.56 gears will be pushing it if you have alot more horse power.
