General rule I believe is 9" for M6 and 12-bolt for A4. Can't tell you why but thats what Ive heard.

thanks it actually pulls the left front a good 6 inches and the right front about 1-2 but the picture was a taken just a little late. that was sunday1/11/09 i made 6 passes and pulled the front 4 times friday night i went to an 1/8 mile track to work on my 60' and made 10 passes pulled the front 9 times and note a peep or growl or anything from the stock 85,000 mile 3.42 rear end, i love my car... i'd love it a little more if she'd run 10's lol

Once you get air ( under the tires ), you always want more !!! You must be getting a good 60' then. I average 1.39-1.41...

my best is 1.8 but its untuned so it kind of falls on its face as soon as the tires come down. but your are right I WANT MORE!!!!!!

Has the rear went yet ?
Mine blew 4 times, before I upgraded... I went from a 3600 to a 4600 stall, didn't get one whole launch that time... Plus it took the tranny with it...

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
12 bolts have been known to break with modded m6s..more on the heavier side...the reason why 9"s are recommended for m6s are becuase they are built proof ..with their gear size..good contact patch..so you dont get deflection which causes gernading(10,and 12s)..also a4s preload the drivetrain before the launch..so its not such violent shock to the drivetrain(thats why 12s are perfect for a4s..very hard to break one) but for m6s..its no preload so drivetrain shock is exponentially higher then with a4s...so more flex and stress...go 9" even though i am an a4..i will be going midwest chasis fabbed 9" down the road..i like the set up and love the fact that i will probably never break that rear end unless i somehow get 2000hp/tq
