    9" ford rear end?

I have heard that some people take a rearend out of ford truck with a 9" rearend and modify it to fit under our cars. Is this possible? Reason i ask is i have an old ford truck that is close to going to the junk yard and dont want to throw out anything i can use.

I've never done that particular swap, but I have done several odd swap mixes. if the ford rear is the right width (it can always be cut down if needed) you might just have to cut the spring hangers and brackets off of the tubes of your rear and the ford then weld your brackets back on it. then you can go to almost any auto parts store and get an adapter U-joint that lets you mount your GM driveshaft to your Ford rear.

    Good luck man!

how economical would this be, It sounds like there would alot of customization, and obviously it would get a complete rebuild (because it is a high mileage truck).

You could get a case for an F-body and swap your stuff into it. The 3rd member is the costly part.

9" has a removable center pumpkin and is quite distinct. It should have a 9", but just look in up on Google to be sure. I'd just keep the pumpkin and get a 9" bolt in housing with axles and all. You can get em for something like $800.
