4th Gen fbody with 3.42 gears?

Looking to find out which 4th gen fbodies came with 3.42 gears in them.

Also did they come with a diff or not?

    Anyone know?

Want to swap out my 3rd gen rear for a 4th with 3.42 gears.

They all have a rear diff.

The 3rd gen rear is a different width than the 4th gen rear. Otherwise, I believe they are the same.

I want to swap my rear and replace it with a 4th gen. Since I already have 3.42 grears I want to see if I can get the same rather than say 3.23's. I also have an auburn diff. So I want to know what kind of diff. came with the 3.42's. I'm not sure if I have a 26 or 28 spline.

Easier to swap out the entire rear.

Yes.....the 4th gen is about 1.75" wider on each side. I am looking at getting C6 rims which is why I want a 4th gen rear (to eliminate using spacers in the rear).

    What about gear ratio's?

Giant waste of time IMO to replace one POS rear with another just to skip out on using spacers. To answer your question only 6spd cars have 342s. Autos come in either 293, 308 or 323.
