Is a 4.88 too much?
Im looking into changing gears when I change out the rear, my roommate has a 4.88 he said he'd sell me, ive been playin with the rpm calculators but still not sure. For a car that will be used primarily for joy riding, and some trips, but will also be used at the strip, would a 4.88 be too much on the M6?

I would say that is way too much. My buddy has 4.56 in his and it is way too much for any street driving. 4.11's are the best for a m-6.

I can tell you one thing, with 4.88's your going to have a worn out left foot and a tired right arm from shifting all the time but you'd be able to pull pretty decent in 6th gear!

yea anything over 4.10 is way to much for a street car. 3.73(...not sure about the .XX) for the 4l60e and 4.10 for the t-56 is about the limit when it comes to gears..take the 4.55 and sell them to buy some gm performance gears
