    4.10 in A4?

Ok I plan on buying a set of gears tmrw, torn between 3.73 & 4.10's in my A4. keep in mind this my daily driver but I very rarely get on the highway, mostly city driving, I plan on going to track once a month-ish. Also by going with 4.10's will the traction loss I experience be even worth it over 3.73's
Suspension mods: springs w/matching shocks&strus, lca relocation brackets, 275/45/16 toyo proxy tq drag radials.
    suggestions?

4.10's in the A4 will make it move pretty damn quick to about 80MPH.
    But mileage will suffer....obviously.

Friend has a 4000 stall and 4.10's in his A4 car...and hangs with much more powerful cars to 75-85MPH.

been there, done it. you will want 3.73 gears. the 4.10 gears are fun for short runs (1/8 mile).

Check out this website. Might help you decide. Personally, I think 3.73s are a good choice unless it's strictly a track car or an m6.

    4.56s' here,so you know I'm gonna say 4.10s'
On 7 trips to Florida from Cleveland,Ohio,my MPG was 24.5 consistently, with the 4.56s',3 trips to Florida have given me 21.5 MPG.The computor handled it well for the MPG.
The question to ask yourself, when you went to 3.73s' will you be saying I wish I went with 4.10s' for the more wicked acceleration or when you went to 4.10s' will you be saying I wish I went with 3.73s' because the acceleration is too wicked.
4.56s' put me in 4th in the 1/4 mile traps and I dropped .5 sec going from 3.23s' to 4.56s'.

i'm running 4.11's and it is insane on acceleration. it's pretty cool that i can still roast the tires rolling at 25 mph on a stock motor. until recently though i'm considering going with a lower gear only because i'm getting ready to spray.

I had the same debate being an A4, so I went with 3.90's since they are in between and less common. I would say it's totally fine for a DD. At 80 mph, I'm at like 2600 rpm, so it's not too loud of an exhaust note. The acceleration is great, and really easy to roast the tires. I dropped 0.3 seconds in my quarter mile, but I also did a re-tune at that time.

decided to go wit the 3.73, didn't like the idea of my car sitting at 2700rpm when I'm cruising@70, normally this wouldn't be a problem but I don't have a muffler/resonator in my 3in system and I don't feel like using ear plugs lol.

If you dont have a stall do the 3.73's and a better stall with a cooler. After that your car will be a beast.

I've heard this suggestion many times...just one problem...after the gears/install I'm severally low on green lol.

I went with 3.73's in my A4 opposed to the 4.10, the reason was freeway driving (65mph +) when you hard accelerate to pass another vehicle, the transmission MAY shift down to 2nd gear, which would take you way over the redline, and possibly damage the engine.

ok well I just got screwed over cuz I bought the wrong gears. Apparently their is a different kind of gear for gm 7.5 cars upgrading from a stock 2.73 as opposed to those upgrading from a 3 series gear(3.42 etc). I was completely unaware of this and ended up paying a shop to crack open my differential only to reinstall the stock gears since the gears I supplied were wrong so I just basically burned $250 for future reference how the hell am I supposed to tell if a set of gears is meant for a 2 series car or 3 series car if it isn't advertised on their site???

    2.73=series 2, 3.42=series 3, not sure about the optional 3.23 though
