3.23 gears with t-56
I am in the process of doing a 6 speed swap. Now I was wonderin if I will see any adverse problems running 3.23 gears for the time being? I am going to be putting a Ram Powergrip HD clutch in it. I have been reading up and people have posted that if you run anything lower than a 3.73 gear you will get a lot of chatter from this clutch. So what do you guys think?

Don't know anything about the clutch, but a 6-speed and those gears won't hurt anything. And you'll have to change your sig LOL.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Stock gears for a 6-speed is 3.42. The only problem is your speedo will read a bit off.

ahhh Killeen,TX FT. Hood..... I remember those days! I was there in 05 then went to Iraq and came back end of 06. Then stayed till 07'. Good times, went to the track out in Temple. Pretty crappy set up but it was nice to have a track. The cruises were good too! I think we met up in the same spot!

Depends Upon Your Intended Use Also
Also depends upon what 6th gear you have in your T56. Changing the tire size (diameter) will also make a smaller difference. The problem with SOME T56 trannys is that they employ a very high top gear with a big gap between 5th and 6th.
This makes it awkward to gear the rear end properly. If you are willing to sacrifice some reduced cruising rpm at 70 or 80 mph, then, like already said so well, just go with a 3.73 or even a 4.10. However, depending again on the 1st gear...
...of your T56, your starting or 1st gear may be too short for drag racing, but would be OK for the street. Everything must be a compromise. My personal opinion is that the factory gearing (3.42?) MAY be too tall with the .50 6th gear?? Dunno. HB of CJ (old coot)

# 1 ram stuff has been good for me, i had a center force an broke it (dfx), my new clutch is a ram and its the best six puck ive ever drove, zero noise after break in and its only ever slipped when i bleed my fluid 100% and then once that worn off its was good as new...
#2 with 3.23 6th is going to suck ull be at like 1100 rpm at 60 mph, as far as 1,2,3 it might work out for a 1/4 mile so u can stay outta 4 th gear... and as far as new gears stay away from motive i had a set and they where so loud i hated them...

alittle red and blue- 2010 Ford Interceptor
I used a 3.23 rear to re place my 9" when i sold my car. (sold 9" to a friend). Never had a problem with the gears except it just felt alot different going from a 3.89 spool'd 9"
I also had the PG HD in my car and it was the best clutch i ever had. I installed it about 1K before my motor build and when i was pulling everything about i took a good look at the clutch and PP. I noticed it didnt have the common burnt look to the PP like you get on a stock style clutch. I had also done some 5K dumps on the with the 9" and it held everytime on E/T streets

3 23 gears with t 56
I would recommend going with 4.10s if you put 35s on. I am not usually one to recommend that but in this case I think you would notice a big benefit from it. I dont think that you need to go any bigger than that tho. That should be perfect for what you are doing and use it for.
What sand dunes do you go to?
